Alaverdi is a town in the Lori Province at the northeastern part of Armenia, not far from the border with Georgia. With an approximate population of 16,500 inhabitants (down from 26,300 in 1989), Alaverdi is situated at the bottom of the Debed river gorge. The town is one of the important commercial and industrial centres of the district and the entire republic. It is located at the only direct rail link between Armenia and Georgia.Alaverdi was formerly known as Manes.

Viillage is located 17 km on south-east from Stepanavan town, and in the distance of 52 km from the regional center - Vanadzor.

In Koghes and its surrounding are located some architecural sights: church from XI century, cemeteries from XII-XIII centuries, bridge from XIII century and Prince Tutik monument built in 1241.

Sverdlov is situated on Urut River, 12 km north-east from Alaverdi and 48 km from Vanadzor.

Village dates back to 18th century, 6 km on north-east from Manstev monastery (located in Teghut village). Although the village is much older than assumed, because it was a center of tuff and basalt mining from 5th to 7th century.

Population: 1048. The number of households: 376.

Village is situated in Tashir region, by the border with Georgia, 17 km on south-east from the center of region – Tashir. Privolnoye was founded in 1850. First residents were Russians who moved from Czarist Russia and inhabited different parts of the village. It is located on 1585 m above the sea level. Winters are severely cold and summers cool, in dry years drought are very frequent.
